COUNSELING, GUIDANCE & CONSULTATION SERVICES
Contrary to the popular belief, you don’t have to be “crazy,” desperate or on the verge of a meltdown to consult a trained Counselor or consider therapy. At the same time, therapy is not required for every little struggle life throws your way, especially if you have a reasonably strong support network of friends and family. So how do you know when it’s time to see a Counselor?
Usually the signs are fairly obvious but at other times, something may feel slightly off and you can’t exactly pinpoint what it is. So you ignore the signs and keep going through your busy life until it seems that life has become unmanageable. Before it gets to this point, here are a few signs to help you recognize that you could benefit from engaging with a trained and qualified enabler :
1) Feeling sad, guilty, frustrated, hopeless, depressed or angry and generally "not yourself" accompanied by sudden mood swings. All your feelings are intense and you constantly feel overwhelmed and vulnerable.
2) You are having a difficult time coping with life in general and you feel disconnected from daily activities.
3) You have significant issues at workplace with peers, seniors, team members or relationship issues with your parents / spouse / family / companion and you cannot stop replaying these issues in your mind.
4) You are using drugs, alcohol, tobacco, food or sex to cope with your moods and feelings.
5) You've lost a loved one or suffered trauma and can't stop thinking / brooding about it.
6) You are getting negative feedback at work or from family / friends.
7) You don't enjoy or don't feel like doing the things that used to give you joy and happiness. You've lost interest or have no inclination for activities / hobbies you used to love doing in the past.
8) You have unexplained, persistent health issues that seem to get better or worse depending on the circumstances and your mood.
